How to play Drift Circuit

  1. Press Play. The first time, choose Start driving for a guided time attack with on-screen coaching. After that, the same button takes you to your next unfinished season event.
  2. Watch the three red lights. Press accelerate as the last one comes on for a perfect launch; holding it from the first light spins the tyres.
  3. Accelerate with W, Up or Drive, steer with A/D, the arrow keys or the arrow pads, and brake with S, Down or Brake before tight corners. Stay on the asphalt: runoff slows the car.
  4. To drift, turn in and tap Space or Slide. Keep steering into the corner to hold the angle, steer the other way to straighten, and stay clean for about a second to bank the chain.
  5. Aim slides through the orange and teal clip zones and near the outer edge to raise the multiplier. Contact, barriers and runoff cost the unbanked chain.
  6. Earn stars in the club season to open new tiers, circuits, reverse layouts and cars. Try the daily drive, set up cars in the Garage, and use Quick race to replay any open circuit.

Make your move

On your computer

  • W or Up: accelerate. S or Down: brake, then reverse. A/D or Left/Right: steer. Space or Shift: handbrake.
  • R: reset the car to the road. C: switch between chase and overhead cameras. M: sound. P or Escape: pause.
  • Gamepad: left stick steers, right trigger accelerates, left trigger brakes, A, B or right bumper slides, Start pauses.

On your phone or tablet

  • Left and right pads steer; Brake and Slide sit on the right. Several fingers work together, so you can steer and slide at once.
  • Auto-accelerate is on for touch screens by default; switch it off in Settings to show a Drive pad. Settings can also swap the arrow pads for drag steering on the left half of the screen.
  • Pause stops the clock and the physics. Landscape and full screen give the road the most room.

About Drift Circuit

Drift Circuit is an original browser driving game about the small decisions that make a corner satisfying. You brake a little later, turn in, flick the rear loose and hold the car at an angle while the road bends away beneath you. It runs in a 3D chase view by default, with a top-down camera one key away, and it plays on keyboards, gamepads and touch screens without an install or an account.

The club season is the main path through the game. Twenty-four events are split across four tiers: Club Day, Night and Dust, Cold Front and Lantern Finals. Each event awards up to three stars for a finishing place, a lap time or a drift score, and stars open the next tier, new circuits for quick races and three more cars. A daily drive picks one circuit, one car and one mode for the calendar day, the same for everyone who plays that day, and counts how many days in a row you finish it.

Eight circuits give sixteen layouts. The original three remain as they were, with wide coastal curves, linked foundry corners and technical alpine bends. Harbour Lights is a night circuit with long straights, a container hairpin and pools of lamplight. Red Mesa sweeps through sand runoff at dusk. Frost Line runs on packed snow with less grip, so every car slides more. Orchard Hairpins twists between blossom rows, and Lantern Quarter threads chicanes through an old town strung with lanterns. Every layout has tyre barriers, curbs on the corners and marked clip zones.

Four modes share the same physics. Race is three laps against three rivals, starting fourth on the grid. Time attack is three laps alone, where your fastest lap counts and split times show whether you are ahead of your best. Drift attack is a seventy-five second scored session. Knockout eliminates the car in last place each time the leader completes a lap, until two remain for the final lap. Rivals come in easy, medium and hard, drive racing lines with small mistakes, avoid slower cars and recover by themselves after a crash.

The five cars handle differently rather than only looking different. The Pip 12 is a light front-drive hatch that pulls itself straight. The Aster 26 is the balanced rear-drive club car. The Mako V8 is loose and powerful, so the throttle steers it mid-corner. The Tundra R is an all-wheel-drive rally car that barely slows on sand and snow, and the Vela GT is the fastest car in the club. Each car has six paints and a grip, balanced or drift setup.

Drifting uses an arcade model tuned for keys and thumbs. A handbrake flick, a trail-braked entry or too much throttle in a rear-drive car starts a slide. While sliding, steering chooses how far the nose points into the corner and nudges the line; countersteering or easing off ends the slide. Drift assist, on by default, holds angles in a comfortable band and prevents spins. Switch it off for a looser car that can spin if you over-rotate it.

Everything you see is original procedural 3D artwork built from code: the cars, trees, containers, boats, mesas, cabins, grandstands and lanterns. Tyre smoke rises from sliding wheels, dark tyre marks stay on the road for the whole session, and night circuits use headlight beams and lamp pools. The engine note, gear changes, tyre squeal and cues are generated live in the browser with no audio files. Records, ghosts, stars, cars and settings save in this browser only.

Sixteen layouts, eight places

Coastline Club, Copper Foundry and Alpine Afterglow are joined by a night harbour, a desert mesa, a snowbound pass, an orchard of hairpins and a lantern-lit old town. Every circuit also runs in reverse.

Rivals, ghosts and knockouts

Race three drivers who use the same car physics as you, start from the back and work forward. Time attack puts your own best lap and a gold club ghost on the road beside you. Knockout drops the last car every lap.

Slides that score

Angle and speed build a chain. Hold it to raise the multiplier, hit orange inside and teal outside clip zones, link slides left and right, and brush the outer edge. Bank it before the grass for up to ten times the points.

A little help for your next high score

  • Brake in a straight line before a slow corner, then turn. A car that turns in too fast only pushes wide, even with a slide.
  • Drifts are fastest when they are short and early. Start the slide at the entry, hold a modest angle and let it straighten on the exit.
  • In time attack, split times appear at every gate. Green means you are ahead of your best lap at that point.
  • For drift scores, link corners. A slide the other way straight after the last one keeps the chain alive and adds a multiplier.
  • On Frost Line and Red Mesa, try the Tundra R: its all-wheel drive keeps traction when the road and runoff are loose.

Good questions

Is Drift Circuit free to play?

Yes. Every mode, circuit and car is free in the browser. Cars and layouts unlock with stars you earn by playing, never with payments, and there is no account or install.

How many tracks and modes are there?

Eight original circuits, each with a reverse layout, for sixteen in total. Modes are race, time attack, drift attack and knockout, organised into a 24-event club season, a daily drive and a quick race menu.

Are the other cars real players?

No. Rivals are computer drivers that use the same car physics as you, in easy, medium or hard. The ghosts in time attack replay your saved best lap and a club reference lap. There is no online multiplayer or public leaderboard.

How does drift scoring work?

Sliding at speed builds a chain from your angle and speed. The multiplier grows every couple of seconds of sliding, with each clip zone and with each linked slide the other way, up to ten times. The chain banks after about a second of clean driving; runoff, barriers and contact lose the unbanked part.

Can I play on a phone or with a controller?

Yes. Touch screens get large pads, optional drag steering and auto-accelerate, and landscape or full screen gives the most room. Standard gamepads work with analog steering and triggers. Keyboards work on any computer.

Does my progress save?

Stars, unlocked cars, settings, best laps, ghost laps and drift scores save automatically in this browser. Older Drift Circuit records carry over, including medals earned before the update. Progress does not sync between devices, and clearing site data removes it.
