How to play Tekken 3

  1. Choose a mode from the menu. Page through the roster and choose a fighter. Eddy and Kuma also offer Tiger and Panda appearance choices.
  2. Choose Arcade for the full ladder, Versus for a local match, Team Battle for ordered teams, Survival for a streak, or Time Attack for a timed clear. Practice targets can be changed from pause. Force and Ball use their own rules.
  3. Move with the arrow keys. A short tap up or down creates a sidestep. Hold down to crouch, hold up to jump, and tap forward twice to close distance.
  4. Use A for left punch, S for right punch, Z for left kick and X for right kick. Press the relevant buttons together for simultaneous commands.
  5. Hold back to guard high and middle attacks. Down and back protect against low attacks but leave a crouching fighter vulnerable to middle attacks.
  6. Open Moves or pause for a command list. Try a short sequence, check its recovery, and practise from both sides of the arena before attempting longer strings.

About Tekken 3

Tekken 3 reached the original PlayStation in 1998 and became a familiar living-room fighting game. This browser reconstruction studies that home release, including its four limb buttons, movement through a three-dimensional arena, distinct martial arts and character-focused presentation. All source code, meshes, costume textures, animation and sounds here are newly authored. The project does not load an original disc, game ROM or extracted asset pack.

Choose from 23 appearances, including Jin, Hwoarang, Paul, Law, Eddy, Xiaoyu, King, Nina, Lei, Yoshimitsu, Julia, Bryan, Kuma, Panda, Gun Jack, Heihachi, Anna, Ogre, True Ogre, Doctor Bosconovitch, Gon, Tiger and Mokujin. Jin combines punch strings with crouch-dash attacks. Hwoarang changes kick families through Flamingo stances. King uses wrestling holds, Lei uses animal forms, and Yoshimitsu brings sword techniques. Tiger shares Eddy’s capoeira with his own appearance. Mokujin changes between fourteen implemented human styles each round. The new hidden fighters have representative command families; an exhaustive transcription of every original move is not claimed.

Arcade climbs a ten-stage ladder through regular challengers, Heihachi, Ogre and its final transformation. Losing offers Continue at the same stage; winning earns a short authored character epilogue. Time Attack uses fixed settings and saves the best complete run. Team Battle lets you assemble one to eight fighters per side and carries the survivor’s remaining health forward. Survival gives a small health restoration after each win and continues until defeat. Practice provides unlimited time and selectable guard behavior. These are separate progression rules around the same four-limb combat system.

Tekken Force is a scrolling beat-em-up with four authored stages, enemy squads, food pickups, end bosses and a countdown. Earn three keys over three clears, then reach Doctor Bosconovitch on the fourth run. Tekken Ball takes place on an authored beach court. Strike the moving ball to build its power, return it before it lands on your side, and win rounds by depleting the opponent’s health. Three ball types change its flight. The exact maps, bonus-mode tuning, animation and sounds are authored reconstructions.

The game keeps a four-to-three arena with textured, skinned low-polygon fighters. Touch controls sit outside the fighting view, while keyboard and gamepad support provide independent inputs for both players. Local two-player matches use a keyboard or two gamepads; the phone touch deck controls player one. Options and records are stored in the current browser when storage is available. All appearances and modes are accessible immediately. Alternate original costumes, original cinematic movies and the original soundtrack are not included. This is an independently authored browser reconstruction, not an official release or a bit-exact copy.

A few useful tricks

  • Do not assume a missed attack can be cancelled immediately. Its recovery gives the opponent a chance to respond.
  • Use a sidestep against a committed straight attack, then check your position before pressing the next button.
  • A standing opponent can guard high and middle attacks; mix in a low attack only when you are close enough to reach.
  • Hwoarang’s Flamingo poses change the available command family. Learn an entry and an exit before using the stance under pressure.
  • In Practice, change the target from standing to guarding and test which parts of a sequence still connect. A sequence is not automatically a guaranteed combo.

Good questions

Is this the complete original PlayStation game?

No. This is an independently authored browser reconstruction with 23 appearances and the home fighting modes. Move coverage, animation, maps and tuning have documented differences, and original movies and alternate costumes are not included.

Does it use an original game ROM?

No. The browser implementation contains newly written game rules, authored meshes and textures, animation, and synthesized audio.

Can I play with touch controls?

The game has a native direction pad and four independent limb buttons outside the arena. Landscape is the intended phone layout. The touch deck controls player one; local player two uses a keyboard or gamepad.

What does each attack number mean?

One is left punch, two is right punch, three is left kick and four is right kick. A plus sign means simultaneous buttons, while commas describe a sequence.

Are the original timing and damage values identical?

Selected documented values are recorded with their sources. Unverified timing and other parameters are authored and require further comparison; exact equivalence is not claimed.
