How to play Tint Hideout

  1. Choose a role and one of the three places. Hide & paint gives you a third-person view of your paintable character. Seek the hiders gives you a first-person marker after the preparation countdown.
  2. Use WASD or the arrow keys to move, drag the view to look around and press Space to jump. On a touchscreen, use the left side as a movement stick and drag the right side to turn.
  3. When hiding, open Paint or press F. Choose a pigment and brush on the character. Rotate around the body to reach its back. Use Fill for a complete body part, Picker to sample scenery, or Coat all for a base coat.
  4. Finish painting, move into place and choose Pose or press G. Try a low or tall silhouette that fits the surrounding object. Stay still when the search begins, and keep solid cover between you and a hunter.
  5. When seeking, move around the room, aim the centre marker and fire at a disguised figure. Watch for movement and shapes that do not match their background. Walls and furniture stop paint shots.
  6. Complete rounds to earn colour tokens and unlock additional poses. Use Menu to pause or return to role selection. Your current round can be resumed while the page remains open.

About Tint Hideout

Tint Hideout is a free three-dimensional hide-and-seek game in which the hiding place and the disguise work together. Play as a hider with a paintable character, or take a first-person paint marker and search for the other figures. A round contains five hiders and two seekers. The other participants are computer-controlled characters, so both roles work immediately without a room code or account. Three original places provide different silhouettes and surfaces: Sunpaint Shore has outdoor props and warm colours, Colour Club arranges sofas and tables into a playful room, and After-hours Gallery puts cabinets, frames and display furniture between the players.

As a hider, you have 45 seconds before the search begins. Move through the place, jump onto reachable furniture and look for a background that suits your outline. Open the painter to brush pigment directly onto the rounded character. Each body part has separate front, back and side surfaces, so painting the visible face does not automatically colour the opposite side. Use Rotate to reach those other surfaces. Fill coats the body part you tap, while Coat all gives the entire figure a single base colour. The picker samples an authored surface in the room, and a custom colour control lets you adjust the pigment yourself. Painting holds the character still while the preparation or search timer continues.

A disguise depends on more than choosing a bright colour. Your colour match measures the paint against the nearby background. Hunters look for movement, an exposed outline and an imperfect match, with closer inspection making a hiding place less secure. Furniture and walls block sight and marker shots. Try a different pose to change the shape that protrudes from cover: Standing, Ballet and Bend are available from the beginning, while Star and Lie flat can be unlocked with earned colour tokens. Moving returns the character to a standing pose. Camouflage slows recognition; it does not make a character invisible or prevent a carefully aimed marker from finding them.

As a seeker, wait through the same preparation countdown and then inspect the room from a first-person view. Drag to turn, move around cover and aim the centre marker at a suspicious shape. Click, tap or use Fire to send a paint shot. A solid obstacle stops the shot before it reaches anything behind it, so a different angle can matter more than repeated firing. The search lasts up to three minutes and thirty seconds. Finding every hider ends it early; a hider who survives the timer wins. The result shows earned tokens and your finds. Wins, tokens, unlocked poses, the painted disguise and preferences save locally when browser storage is available. An unfinished round begins again after a page reload.

Paint every side

Brush directly on the character, fill a body part, sample a surface or coat the whole disguise. Front and back keep their own paint.

Two ways to play

Stay still in a convincing disguise, or search with a marker and uncover the figures hiding around furniture.

Three hiding places

Explore a sunny shore, a colourful lounge and a quiet gallery, with grounded movement, jumping, cover and body poses.

A little help for your next high score

  • Paint the back of the head and body as well as the front. A hunter can approach from another direction, and the colour-match measure considers the whole disguise.
  • Use the surface picker for a starting pigment, then brush in a second colour when the background has different sections. Keep the outline of the character in mind.
  • Walk around an object before settling in. A place that looks convincing from one side may leave the whole body exposed from another.
  • Finish moving before selecting a pose. Movement restores the standing shape, and a moving figure is easier for a hunter to recognise.
  • As a seeker, change your viewing angle. Paint shots do not pass through cover, even when part of a hider is visible somewhere else.

Good questions

Is Tint Hideout free?

Yes. Both roles and all three places are available without a purchase or account. Additional poses use tokens earned by completing rounds.

Do I play against other people?

The other hiders and hunters are controlled by the computer. Tint Hideout does not currently offer network multiplayer.

How do I paint the back of my character?

Open Paint and choose Rotate, then drag around the character. On a mouse you can also drag with the right button. Return to Brush or Fill when the desired side is visible.

Does painting pause the timer?

No. The character stays still while you paint, but the round countdown continues. Open Menu if you need to pause the round.

Can a matching colour make me invisible?

No. Matching the scenery slows a computer hunter’s recognition. Movement, close inspection and an exposed silhouette can still reveal a hider.

What progress is saved?

Your wins, tokens, unlocked poses, painted disguise and settings save in this browser when storage is available. An unfinished round restarts after reloading, and saves do not sync between devices.
