How to play Pitch Rally

  1. Choose a national team and Casual, Club or International opposition. Select Play cup to view the opening bracket, then Start match. Choose Practice for an open pitch with only your own team.
  2. Press and hold on a field position. The selected player runs toward that point during open play. Move the pointer or finger to adjust the route. A pale line shows the current passing or shooting direction.
  3. Release to kick. Aim close to a teammate to pass, or aim toward the opposing goal to shoot. Long passes travel through the air, so watch the ball and its ground shadow when preparing the next touch.
  4. When defending, guide a player toward the front of the carrier. Release without the ball or use Switch to choose a nearer teammate. Avoid hard challenges from behind, which can concede a foul.
  5. At a restart, aim into the field and release. At a penalty, change the aiming point before releasing. After a goal, watch the instant replay or skip it to continue.
  6. Win the match to advance in the national cup. Review shots, passes, tackles and possession on the result screen. Use the in-game Menu to pause, view controls, watch a recent replay or return to team selection.

About Pitch Rally

Pitch Rally is a free three-dimensional football game built around a direct field-point control. You guide a complete team of eleven footballers against computer opposition, including a goalkeeper and ten outfield players. Hold a point on the pitch to move the selected player toward it. Move the pointer or finger to change that destination, then release to send a pass or shot along the pale direction line. The elevated touchline camera follows the ball while showing nearby supporting runs. National kit colours, a striped playing surface, woven goal nets and an original stadium surround keep the action readable.

A good move starts before the shot. A short release can find a nearby teammate, while a longer pass lifts over the first line of defenders. Teammates move into supporting positions and opponents close the carrier or protect their shape. Meet a descending high ball and release at head height to attempt a header. If the target is behind the player, the same aerial opportunity can become a bicycle kick. On defence, move into the front of a carrier to challenge for possession. A fast approach from behind can produce a foul, with a free kick or penalty depending on where the challenge occurs. Release without possession, tap Switch or press Q to choose a defender closer to the ball.

The match includes kickoffs, goal kicks, corners, throw-ins, free kicks and penalties. The last team to touch a ball determines the appropriate boundary restart. Goalkeepers track the play, collect reachable balls and can parry a powerful effort. Offside can stop a pass to a teammate beyond the defensive line, with the usual restart exceptions for throw-ins, corners and goal kicks. Two regulation halves use a compressed match clock, and the teams change ends. A tied knockout match continues into extra time and, if necessary, a penalty shootout. At a set piece, take time to choose the target before releasing.

The national cup begins with 32 teams and requires five victories: the opening round, round of sixteen, quarter-final, semi-final and final. Choose a side and one of three opposition strengths before entering. The bracket advances after a completed match, and cup progress, wins, goals and settings save locally in the browser when storage is available. A page reload restarts an unfinished match in its current cup tie. Practice removes the opposition so the whole team can rehearse passes, movement and finishing without a tournament result. Pitch Rally is a solo game against computer-controlled teams; it does not connect to online opponents.

A little help for your next high score

  • Look for a teammate with a clear passing lane. A longer pass can clear a defender, but gives the opposition time to move under the descending ball.
  • Use a short target to keep the ball close while changing direction. Sending every release toward the goal makes possession harder to retain.
  • Watch the shadow under an airborne ball. A header needs the ball near the player at head height; releasing too early usually changes the selected defender or leaves the opportunity unused.
  • Approach the carrier from the front. A rushed challenge from behind can turn a promising defensive position into a free kick or penalty.
  • Practice both directions. Teams switch ends during a match, so the attacking goal changes. Use the scoreboard, kits and goalkeeper positions to stay oriented.

Good questions

Is Pitch Rally free?

Yes. All national teams, practice and the knockout cup are available in the browser without a purchase or account.

How do I pass and shoot?

Hold a point on the field, then release. Aim near a teammate for a pass, or toward the opposing goal for a shot. A longer target produces a stronger, often lofted pass.

How many players are on a team?

Each team has eleven players, including a goalkeeper. Practice includes only your own eleven players, without opposition.

Can I play against another person online?

Pitch Rally currently uses computer-controlled opponents. It does not offer network multiplayer or shared-device two-player matches.

Does my cup save?

Cup progression between matches, results and settings save locally when browser storage is available. An unfinished match restarts after reloading, and progress does not sync between devices.

What happens when a cup match is tied?

The match continues into extra time. If the score remains level, a penalty shootout decides who advances.
